Dear Colleagues
We would like to cordially invite you to participate in the 16th International Congress of the IFAA (International Federation of Associations of Anatomists) to be held from August 22-27, 2004, in Kyoto, Japan.
Since the beginning of the last century, the IFAA International Congress has been held to facilitate and promote mutual exchange and collaboration in anatomical research and education. In 1975, we had the opportunity to host the 10th International Congress in Tokyo. A considerable number of people participated from abroad and the congress was an overwhelming success. It is a truly great honor for us to be able to convene this internationally recognized assembly here in Japan once again.
The 21st century is the post-genomic era in which knowledge in the field of life sciences is rapidly advancing and our structural approaches will have increasing power to provide a significant base to solve various important questions. This is reflected in the main theme of the congress, "Morphological Science as the Basis of New Life Science in the 21st Century".
We are at present working hard to organize what we hope will be an enjoyable congress here in Kyoto in 2004, paying particular attention to ensure both a stimulating scientific program and a pleasant social program for all participants.
We believe that you will have a wonderful time participating in both the scientific and social events that we have prepared for you in this beautiful city of Kyoto, the ancient capital of Japan.
We look forward to welcoming you to the 16th International Congress of the IFAA in Kyoto, 2004.
